We have for sale a lovely Rosslyn Pattern S. Hancock & Son Stoke on Trent , England Corona plate dated 1906 - 1912. Hand painted in a cheerful art deco design.The Rosslyn pattern has strong colours and is fresh and bright. A very nice rare piece to add to any Corona Ware collection. This distinctive hand painted plate is in good antique condition. There is a small chip on the underside of the plate which doesn't show on the front and has usual wear consistent with age and use (see photos). Its diameter is 20 cms. The company was founded by Sampson Hancock, a prominent Wesleyan, in 1857 and was renamed S. Hancock & Sons (Potters) Ltd in 1935. It closed in 1937. They produced table wares and fancies for the popular market, its main income being from semi-porcelain and earthenware, toilet wares, vases and vitreous hotel wares. The company also produced a range of crested wares, these being marketed with the trade name The 'Duchess' China or The 'Corona' China and Grosvenor Ware.
