It features a Roman numeral dial with a hand-carved bird seated at the peak of the roof. The case is surrounded by deeply carved maple leaves with hand-carved birds and a nest. Two cone-shaped weights are suspended beneath the clock case by two separate chains. The hand-carved maple leaf pendulum continously swings back and forth. On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour. (Example: At one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). The volume of cuckoo sound can be adjusted. This clock features a light sensor, cuckoo birds will not sings in dark. The clock is operated by two "D" batteries (not included) and can run continuously for about one year. Operation manual is included.
