HANDMADE FOLDED EGDE JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD DRAGON TSUBA Material: folded blade Length: 42 inches Condition: Very good a s pictures, in excellent condition Excellent Sword/Katana: This a nice katana/sword made by a master sword smith by hand. It isn't a cheap with a spot-welded rod for a handle. This katana has a handmade blade with a nice pattern in the skin.Real handmade swords have a wood grain like pattern in the outer skin called the jihada. It comes from laminating many layers of steel to made the blade flexible. The blades are made by starting with a piece of hard steel to serve as the foundation of the sword. The skin or is made of hundreds of layers of softer steel that serve as a way to make the sword more flexible and resistant to breaking. The blade is adorned with artwork like the Tsuba and handle and scabbard.The machine made blades are not as valuable, and don't have such a beautiful and important quality.
