Brand new, twelve base, customised, 15mm army hand painted in fine detail, mounted on DBM/DBA standard textured bases and coated with two coats of clear varnish for durability. Created to represent the valiant LAUZUNS volunteer FRENCH LEGION supporting the colonial armies against the might of Britain. the ALAMO mission. See photograph for detail. Set Contains : 1 X 5 Lauzun's Command Group & Banner + 1 X 2 Mounted Chevaliers + 2 X 4 + 5 X 3 Lauzun's Volunteer Legionnaires 2 X 4 Partisan American Militia + 1 X 4 Field gun & crew His Most Christian Majesty, Louis XVI, King of France, signed an alliance treaty with the Continental Congress in 1778 and began supplying arms and equipment to the beleaguered American colonials. Later in 1780, they sent the Expédition Particulière, a small army numbering about 6,000, under the command of the Comte de Rochambeau. This unique organization within the French military was made up of soldiers from throughout Europe with an ethnic diversity ranging from France proper to the French-German border, from Russia to Italy, from Sweden and Poland to England. Translation of the roster shows that the majority of the men came from France and the French-German border areas. They fought valiantly alongside the American forces and were vital during the battle for New York.
