Up for immediate purchase or auction is a "Flower Garden" quilt pieced in the 1930s and quilted in the 1940s. Despite its age, it is in excellent condition as it was stored and not used as bedding. T are a variety of pastel colors within each flower and very few are alike. The quilt has a full white backing and is hemmed in yellow. It can be washed and dried as you would any bedding material. It will fit a full bed and a queen bed if the sides are not tucked in. Nothing beats the old time appeal of a Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt. Tiny scraps of fabric are stitched together to form flowers and then stitched together to make a larger flower and then quilted (sewn with cotton wadding in between stiches) onto a plain white backing. After this quilt was pieced in the 1930s , it was stored in a cedar chest. In 1942 it was given by the quilter to her daughter-in-law (no doubt to keep her mind off her young husband who was off to fight in World War II). This item comes from a smoke-free home.
