America's love of large, clip point fighting knives did not begin with Jim Bowie and the Alamo. It began 20 years earlier with the Ames Rifleman's Knife. This knife was issued to our troops during the War of 1812. and was carried by the military personnel that accompanied Lewis and Clarke. These knives were present on the frontier long after the fur trade era. This is my representation of that knife. The blade is 1095HC that has been polished, and tempered to 56RC. It measures 8 X 1 1/2 X 1/8 with an overall length of 13 inches. The handle is Walnut, and is secured to the tang with pins just like the original. The double guard is brass. The hand sewn cowhide belt sheath is double saddle stitched, rivet reinforced, and is of the frog type making it authentic to the knife. It is finnished in Russet Brown. This is not one of those " Made in China" flea market specials. This is a 100% handmade tactical knife made by me right in Oklahoma America. So, whether you are a re-enactor, a Native American dancer, or just need a large, fully functional tactical knife, this is a great knife at a fair price.
