This Covered Ginger Jar - or very special Cookie Jar - was created by the hands of Philadelphia pottery artist Jason Silverman. It has a classic shape and the finish is glossy on a smooth surface. The lid is finished with a delicate finial. Be sure to take notice of the way the glazes have finished on the flat surface of the finial - it almost makes the entire piece and will surely be noticed by anyone who sees it in person. Thrown and worked by hand, this lidded jar is presented in beautiful shades of fabulous blueberry and creams glazes. Silverman uses a custom mix of glazes and his creations have the appearance of a melding of liquid glass and the earthy pottery. It's truly a work of functional art.
