Up for bid is a huge, beautiful German handmade that has been professionally polished. This is one of the more rare swirls. It would be classified as a complex core. It has a ribbon core as well as a latticino core. This one is also an error marble. It has a broken off chunk of glass floating around inside that caused a circular annealing fracture inside, 100 years ago. The loose chip of glass interferes with the outer set of ribbons on both sides. The error is more visible if you tilt the marble and look at it from different angles. This big beautiful marble still displays well. It had some big chips and fleabites, and overall surface roughness when I got it. The outer surface has since been polished down to remove all damage, and is pristine. It is well over 1 1/2" and mics at 1.546. Overall it is a fine example of one of the rarer types, but does have the internal flaw that is visible in the last couple of pictures. This marble has been transformed into a true work of art. All of the chips and playwear have been removed, as well as all of the typical as made flaws that these old marbles usually have. The pontils have been removed as well during the restoration process.
