Two gold plated personalized initials inlaid in the cap are included with this pen at no additional charge. Many of my pens are bought as gifts so I like confirmation of the initials choice (or if you prefer no initials) rather than just add the buyer's initials. PLEASE SPECIFY TWO INITIALS AT TIME OF PEN PAYMENT. .The bird's-eye maple wood for this pen was harvested in the Vermont forest. This el grande style fountain pen is perfect for those with arthritic hands and those who like a little bigger pen. Measuring 14mm in diameter, it is 22% larger than the European style pens I make. The nib is also bigger than the standard nib in keeping with the proportions of this pen. The El Grande fountain pen is lightweight and well balanced making it easy to write with. It was handcrafted in my Vermont studio using Vermont bird's-eye maple wood. The wood in some maple trees shows a beautiful spotted design. Each spot is approximately 1/8" across and looks like a bird's eye. These "bird's-eye" spots are caused by many indented places, close together, in the annual growth rings of the maple tree. This bird's-eye design is rarely found in any other kind of wood. Because each board is unique, your pen will have its own distinct look.
