Offered for your consideration is this beautiful hand carved wooden sculpture of a handsome young farmer.Carved in Brienz Switzerland by a master carver at the firm of Hans Huggler-Wyss. The sculpture depicts a young farmer holding a staff with his hand to his head. Has a WPA feel to it.Measures about 20 1/2 inches tall. Base measures 7 3/8" by 4 3/8".The original unpainted surface has a couple minor scrapes and scratches. One on the top of the base and another on his right knee and pants leg.There is an old split in the wood on his back left leg. The split had been filled in years ago and has some discoloration. PLEASE SEE PICTURESThe sculpture is marked on the back of the base H Huggler-Wyss. The bottom is marked "ORIGINAL PIECE OF ART". There is also the branded label of the HANS HUGGLER-WYSS firm.I would guess this piece dates from the first half of the twentieth century.Free shipping to lower 48 states.No international shipping.Please email me if you have any questions.
