This reliable harpsichord was built from a John Storrs kit, I believe in the 1980's. As well as the main register, it also has stops to allow playing at 4' and 8'pitch. Five years ago, the instrument was professionally modified so that the keyboard can slide, to allow playing at a440 and a415. It has been used in numerous recitals and concerts, but sadly is no longer used and needs an owner who will play it regularly. The instrument comes with its original trestle stand (which can be dismantled), folding music desk as well as a tuning key. The instrument has wooden jacks. There is also a padded cover, though this appears to be home made. The lid is fully detachable if desired - one of the hinge pins is missing, though easily replaced. Currently, there are three or four broken strings that will need replacing. The case has suffered some knocks over the years and there are several chips and small scratches, none of which really detract from the overall appearance. The original lid stick is missing, so a makeshift replacement has been made using dowel rod. The instrument has not been played for well over a year and will require tuning, and possibly a small amount of regulation, though it appears that every key is sounding (minus the broken strings).Dimensions: (L)203cm, (W) - at keyboard: 85cm, (D)24cm. Trestle is 66cm high, on castors. read more
