Snyder was in Harry Truman's Missouri Regiment, the 381st Field Artillery, 102nd Division.I n 1931, Snyder entered government service, working in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in the "insolvency division." His duties were, essentially, to attempt to rehabilitate banks that had gone bust during the Depression. He was tasked to monitor eight banks in the St. Louis, Missouri, area. Having achieved notable results in this effort, Snyder was named by President Franklin D.
