BLACK OAKS in EL CAPITAN MEADOW, mid-AUTUMN, YOSEMITE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA16x20 Silver Gelatin Photograph by So. Calif. Photographer Gordon Hastings Black oak trees in El Capitan Meadow, Yosemite Valley., photographed in mid-autumn after the leaves had fallen and before the winter snows set in. This is image was photographed in 1988 and printed for a salong exhibition and may show some handling marks or wear on the edges of the mount. It is an original gelatin silver photographic image, and has been printed using archival methods, and toned in selenium for permanence. This is the only large print I have from this negative, and it is not likely that I will print more as I do not make the 16x20 size any longer. This image was printed from an 4" x 5" negative and printed on Ilford 16 x 20 heavy weight fiber-base photo paper. It is mounted on a 16" x 20" mount board with my label on the back. There may be label(s) from exhibitions on the reverse side also. I have been photographing the landscape of California and the West for over 40 years with large and medium format cameras, primarily with black and white films. I am currently assembling lifetime portfolios of the Sierra Nevada, Owen’s Valley, Yosemite, the Central Coast, the Mojave Desert and Death Valley. I have also taken several trips to Baja California recording the landscape, read more
