Today I have up for consideration a Beautiful Set of Hazel Atlas , Square "Sunset Pink" - Salt & Pepper Shakers. Each Shaker stands 4-3/8" tall, 2-3/8" wide & 2-3/8" deep .Eacj Shaker is embossed, one with "Salt" & the other with "Pepper". Each Shaker has a Silver color screw on lid. These Shakers are uses & have some "scuff" makers on the lids. These pieces were Discontinued in 1956. The Hazel Atlas Glass Company was formed in 1902 out of a merger between the Atlas Company (circa 1880's) & the Hazel Company. This union started a long history which would later produce the largest glass company in the world. After the merger, Hazel Atlas continued their production of fruit jars & commercial food storage containers, as they had for many years. In 1923 they began production of a line of dinnerware for the average homemaker. Not a line of elegance or superiority, not a line of notable decoration & style that appealed to the rich, but rather a simple & plain line that the common housewife could purchase for little money & that would be able to be used daily. Later that same year Hazel Atlas would be the first glass house in America to produce a widespread of colored transparent dinnerware, which we now refer to as Depression Glass.
