I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an "as found" condition. I do no repairs or alterations. I do this in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive their items as original as possible. Because I get my items from anywhere and everywhere I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: This old casserole bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, hairlines or crazing and shows very little, if any, wear. I couldn't find any utensil marks or scratches of any kind. It's apparent it was used very little. I have no idea how old the piece is but judging by the estate it came from I would guess it's an old piece. The company was created in the 1940's by Edith Kiertener Heath who had studied art at the Chicago Art Institute. Her first pieces were done on a potter's wheel. I'm sure there is a pattern name to this piece because it does have a distinctive appearance. The color is a little hard to describe because in bright light it appears to be a tan color but with less light it's almost has an olive green appearance. The glaze is a speckled glaze with thousands of very tiny black dots but very smooth. It's a pretty piece. It is about 11 1/4" in diameter and 5" in height to the top of the knob on the lid.
