DESCRIPTION : This is a STUPENDOUS silver brooch that was made in Mexico, circa 1940's, by CORO. During World War II, Hector Aguilar and Gerald Rosenberger, the owner of CORO, entered into a financial partnership. Hector Aguilar's Taller Borda produced silver jewelry for CORO in great volume. This brooch is pictured on page 111, photo plate VII-33, of Penny C. Morrill's and Carole A. Berk's magnificent book, Mexican Silver , and the description of the photo reads "Hector Aguilar, c. 1940". The identical hallmark on this brooch is shown under "Hallmarks of the Taller Borda" on page 12 of Penny C. Morrill's book, Silver Masters of Mexico . This is a masterfully crafted VERY dimensional silver repousse brooch in a floral and foliate motif ~ the swaying leaves, tulip flowers and demi sp accents are exquisite! The designs are heavily oxidized which highlights the silverwork beautifully. It has a locking pin clasp on the back which works perfectly. This is a very collectible, signed piece ~ art-to-wear at it's finest ~ it is extremely well crafted and is in pristine condition! SIZE: Length is 3-1/2", width is 2-3/4", and weight is 30 grams.
