Offered for auction sale is a wonderfully styled and decorated, Pair of ARTS & CRAFTS era Bookends , made by Heintz Art Metal Shop in New York in the early 1900's. They are made of Bronze and Sterling. Each bookend is crafted of sturdy heavy bronze, with squared shape featuring an arched top. They have a Sterling Silver decoration of vertical columns, horizontal bars, and geometric shapes, very much in a Native American styled arrangement. The Sterling top arches along with the shape of the bookend top. Bronze and Sterling are in excellent condition. T are no damages to the corners. The clean simple shape and geometric design, along with its outstanding patina, gives this set a distinct Arts and Crafts style appearance. Each bookend is 5 1/8" high, 5" wide, with an underbook flap 4" deep. They weigh close to 1 lb. each. The top side of each underbook flap is die-incised with the HAMS (Heintz Art Metal Shop) diamond logo insignia, along with " STERLING ON BRONZE ", " PAT.AUG.27,'12 ", and with the item design number " 7165 ". In addition, this pair was made by Heintz for exclusive sale at Macy's, and each is further die-incised, " R.H.Macy & Co. Inc.
