Here is a rare, museum quality find; a fabulous piece of Zia Pueblo pottery made by famed potter Helen Gachupin (1931-1992). Both of Helen's parents were potters as well as her grandmother, Rosalia Median Toribio (1858-1950) who is often credited by scholars as one of the best Zia potters of her day! Helen's work can be found in various museums and galleries throughout the U.S. This pot measures 9" high and is 9.5" at it's widest point. The mouth measures 6" in diameter. We don't know if it is an Olla or a storage jar. It is decorated with two birds, one of Helen's favorite themes. The condition is quite excellent overall. The interior appears to have a couple of scrapes as you can see from the pictures. The exterior has very minor scratches. Please email us with any additional questions you may have!
