HENRI CAMILLE DANGER( 1857 - 1937 )A very beautiful signed oil on panel by the major french painter Henri Danger depicting a nude by moonlight. This is a superb piece and in its original frame and in very nice condition. From a private collection.Title: "Nude by Moonlight"Signature: Signed lower rightMedium: Oil on panelSize: c. 10 x 8 inches unframed/ 16 x 14 framed Condition: Very nice for ageHenri Camille Danger studied under Gérome and Aimé Millet, and exhibited his work at the Salon de Paris from 1886 to 1937. He was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1887 and was a member of the Société des Artistes Français from 1899. He was awarded a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur in 1903.His salon submissions included historical subjects such as The Hague Conference, allegories such as The Great Designers of Arbitration and Peace, and mythological subjects such as Venus with Two Gifts (1937). He produced sketches for tapestries for the factory at Gobelins, and illuminations in 15th-century style.
