Offered here are two Du Pont Powder Company Dynamite Tamping Bags and one Hercules Powder Company Dynamite Tamping bag. The Du Pont bags are in two sizes as noted on the bags with the Hercules tamping bag showing great Hercules Explosives advertising. Tamping bags would have been filled with damp sand or some other media and used over the several sticks of dynamite in a drilled hole prior to setting them off with a blasting cap. The tamping bags contained the shattering effect of the explosion somewhat to avoid 'cannoning' of the hole. Great display pieces. For every fifty Du Pont bags I have seen one Hercules bag.
