RARE AND EXQUISITE ND ROTHSCHILD BIRDS PORCELAIN FOOTED TEA CUPS AND SAUCERS - 2 - $165 RETAIL FOR EACH SET Up for auction we have two (2) very rare nd Rothschild "Birds" porcelain footed tea cups and saucers . Handpainted and crafted in Hungary, this pattern is highly coveted today not only because it is hard to find but also because of its delicacy. All four pieces in this auction are in mint condition (see photos). One tea cup and saucer alone is currently retailing for $165 on . Please note the two tea cups in this auction are the finer footed style, not the more stripped-down flat style cup. An impressed basket weave design and handpainted birds, bugs, and applied roses make the nd cups and saucers truly stunning pieces. Totally handpainted, all four pieces are edged in gold leaf. The cup holds 8 oz. of liquid and the saucer is 6" in diameter. Both the cups and saucers are numbered 734, while one is also numbered E95 and the other K95 (see photo of mark). Many connoisseurs consider this pattern, first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe, to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain.
