This antique, vintage 37 ½ inch 3 Iron was forged in stainless steel with a lined face lofted 27 degrees…equivalent to mid-mashie (4 iron). The sole has a nice desirable ‘bounce’ and the back is stamped TAL in a Triangle, Stainless, 3 Iron, Warranted Hand Forged, Made in Scotland , and Tom Allen in large script above Special. T Allen is listed at Alexandra, Glasgow 1911 to 1932 or Murrayfield, Edinburgh 1928 to 1930. There is a straight, very strong shaft with a fitted and Playable 15 inch dark brown wrapped leather grip. Irons forged in stainless steel were generally used only on first grade clubs due to the more difficult working of the harder metal. Appears very suitable for Play with No Reserve!
