Museum-quality cast of Pterodactyl Pterosaur (extinct flying reptile) Species: Pterodactylus kochi Upper Jurassic Approx. 150 million years old Bavaria, Germany This exquisite cast was produced from one of the most complete fossils of this pterosaur species ever found, hailing from the famous Solnhofen Limestone in Germany. It was carefully cast in high-strength gypsum cementand meticulously hand painted to faithfully reproduce the finest details of the original specimen, including the tiny teeth and claws, delicate bones of the ribs, feet, and tail. Each forelimb includes a greatly elongated finger which in life supported the flexible wing membranes. One can also see contours in the matrix thought to represent portions of the soft tissue. Do not mistake this cast for a sculpture of this specimen sometimes sold by others. This cast was produced from the actual fossil. Several books feature photos of this specimen. It is one of the smaller pterosaur species, but an adult individual. The cast is approx. 7 x 5.5 inches, although the pterosaur's wings (folded in the fossil) would have extended over 18 inches across when stretched out during flight. This would make a great addition to a fossil collection, a wonderful conversation piece and educational tool a,d a cool holiday gift for any science and nature lover. Includes a wire hanger
