Payment | Shipping | The Shaman Gallery Highly Stylized Sepik River Ancestor figure - Great Art Papua New Guinea Sepik River figure This is a wonderful carving from the Sepik river region of Papua new Guinea , a highly stylized ancestor figure , with elaborate design and form , all carved from a single piece of wood. The figure has some apparent age and handling , I am not sure if it was ever used traditionally, It likely was carved for sale , though it is not a new example and dates back to the mid 20th century. Ex Douglas Mc Cutcheon collection. The figure has been professionally mounted and measures 8 3/4 inches tall , it will make a very nice decor piece for your ethnographic collection , it is really a handsome work of Tribal Art.
