This painting is by an artist from the folk art movement known as the HIGHWAYMEN. In the segregated mid-1950s, this loosely affiliated group of black painters traveled across the state selling their Florida landscape paintings. This one is by W. Daniels of the Highwaymen. An original with the scratched in signature. Also looks to be the original frame. Very nice color with no major problems except the previous owner put some sort of hangers on the back and it went through the painting. It is on the upper left hand corner and the upper right hand corner. Cna be easily repaired. His paintings are highly sought after by collectors.
