HIPPO HIPPOPOTAMUS Figural Creamer Cream Pitcher JAPAN Up for bid is a stoneware novelty cream pitcher. This figural creamer is made in the shape of a hippopotamus pitcher! If you look closely you will notice it is wearing a polka dot clown suit. While it is unmarked it can be identified as made in Japan. I am not sure what company imported them, but they stoneware novelties and tableware such as this were popular back in the 1970s. They came with sticker labels (sometimes the labels read only with Japan). T is a remnant of some kind of sticker on his underside. This happy fellow measures a little more than 5" long. Note that his mouth is the pour spout! Condition: Piece is without chips, cracks, crazing or wear. Perhaps the start of a new collection. (t were other pieces that matched this guy...
