Here's a REAL "Historic Route 66" Road sign. It's a real highway sign on thick (.063) heavy gauge aluminum and is reflective. It has prepunched mounting holes in the aluminum, but the holes in the reflective sheeting on the face have not been punched out. (I carefully cut mine out with a utility knife) The sign face is in perfect condition with no blemishes at all. The back side will have some scuffs since it was made to be a road sign, not a tourist trinket. It is 12 inches by 18 inches so it's a nice size to display. Not huge, not tiny. It's the size of a typical "No Parking" sign.It is a real, reflective highway sign meeing DOT standards (Google: MUTCD) The third picture shows it with a flash on the picture. I got these from someone who bought some sealed boxes of them at a storage locker auction in a Route 66 city. I can't say for sure where they are from but one person said they saw them posted somewhere in Oklahoma, and I saw a picture from the about 20 years ago with a sign that looked like this on Route 66 in Williams, Arizona. They had been in storage for a while, but I'm not sure how old they actually are. I have no information concerning their exact age or history, but the sealed box was somewhat dusty.
