Nice copy of "Mills's History of Chivalry; or Knighthood and its Times." Volume I (of 2). Printed in Philadelphia in 1826. (There was a London edition in 1825 so this may be a First Edition Thus.) Description: 223 pages. The cover is leather on the binding and corners with spotted board on the covers. It measures 6x9x1.5" Condition: Fair. There are no disagreeable odors and no musty smells. The book is clean and the binding is firm and intact. There are no loose pages and they are not brittle or flaking. Some of the leather has been scraped on the lower back cover corner and along the bottom near the spine. On the inside cover is a pencil marking in the upper left hand corner. The book has a moderate amount of foxing. The outside upper spine shows some splitting of the leather but there is no separation of the binding. Page 63 has a tear at the top edge and there is a pencil notation on page 56. There is a name written in dark ink on the top of the title page which bleeds through to the other side. A section of pages in the middle of the book experienced a slight creasing at some point but there is no damage to them. Cover board corners have some wear, exposing the inner board on the bottom ones. The worst fault is a bend to the upper left corner of the back cover board. (The crease can also be seen from the inside back cover.) read more
