~ HMS Opportune Ships Crest - Unmounted ~~ One Off Casting ~ This circular aluminium plaque is painted and depicts a gold hour glass against a blue background. This is a one off metal casting taken from the original or from the admiralty pattern book, no duplicates were made. ~ HMS Opportune (G80) ~ HMS Opportune (G80) was an O-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was ordered from John I. Thornycroft & Company, Woolston on 3 September 1939 for the 1st Emergency Flotilla. She was commissioned on 14 August 1942. She was the second Royal Navy ship borne Opportune. She served throughout the Second World War, mainly as an escort ship for convoys, and remained with the Royal Navy until the mid 1950s. ~ Dimensions ~ The badge has a total height of 9 inches (22.5cm). It has a diameter of 7 inches (17.75cm). Weight approx 0.86 kg. ~ Condition ~ The crest is in decent condition. For further details and conditions see pictures below....
