Items in this listing are sold "as-is". No partial or full refunds. No returns.I have received confirmation, from a guy that knows more about early handbuilts than anyone, that this model is indeed a rare Tenshodo handbuilt; " Kevin, I saw this 4-8-2 when it was first listed and put it on my watch list. It is definitely a Tenshodo model in my opinion. I have three distinct variations of this loco, all in different wooden Tenshodo boxes. I think I may have sent you a couple photos of these a while back.Yours has had quite a few castings added to it, most of which are early Kemtron parts. Makes me think the work was done a long time ago. These models, like some others that you and I have run across, could have been sold in the Tenshodo shop, but were actually built by another builder (one guy) who had no other outlet to sell his items. Seems likely to me and would account for differences in the builder's style."Runs pretty well on track. Both the engine and tender are quite heavy, solid thick brass. On close inspection, all the signs are there that these models were hand made.it is a Tenshodo because the bottom looks a lot like the handmade Tenshodo 2-10-4 Santa Fe where the bottom plate over the rear set of drivers is indented a bit from the rest of the bottom plate. No original box. To see it run, search youtube for;"HO Brass Rare read more
