A Group of 4 Original Vintage Autographed Greeting Cards (ranging in size from 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" [6 x 9 cm] to 6" x 9" [15 x 23 cm])Hoagy Carmichael was a famous composer and piano player, who had acting roles in a number of movies from the 1930s to the 1970s, and he was surprisingly good as an actor!Note that ALL FOUR of these greeting cards have been personally autographed (signed) by Hoagy Carmichael! He was personal friends with actress/model Margie Stewart. Miss Stewart is not well known today, but has a fascinating background. She was the only "Official Army Poster Girl" during World War II, and millions of her pinups were given to soldiers. In 1941, her pinup fame caused her to be signed by RKO and she made 20 movies during the war. After the war ended, she married Jerry Johnson, and they produced shows at the Hollywood Bowl, including ones with The Beatles, Barbra Streisand, and The Beach Boys! She was a close friend of Hoagy Carmichael's, and they exchanged holiday cards each year, and she saved these four of them. They were sold after she passed away, along with the rest of her estate. Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signatures on each are authentic.
