Tall folio 9 x 14 ( larger than scan) buckram cloth/backed illustrated boards sunning to top and rear covers else VERY GOOD +++ condition crisp clean ; 83 pages. From the introduction. "The Chronicles are remembered not for themselves but for one of their readers - William Shakespeare... The Chronicles were an important source for thirteen of Shakespeare's thirty-seven plays" "Raphael Holinshed (1529–1580) was an English chronicler , whose work, commonly known as Holinshed's Chronicles , was one of the major sources used by William Shakespeare for a number of his plays . He is thought to have come from Cheshire , but lived in London, where he worked as a translator for the printer Reginald Wolfe .
