SEARCH OUR STORE HOPI WHITE CHIN KACHINA DOLL BY ARTIST ERIC NASTACIO Item # K1687 Kachina is a approximately 7-1/2" tall including 1-1/4" base, and 3-1/4" wide at widest points. Doll is carved and painted very well. It is excellently detailed and proportionate. White Chin or Tuma-uyi is amongst the oldest known Hopi Kachinas around today. The word Tuma-uyi means White Chin. He got that name because he has a very colorful face, but his chin is painted white. This Kachina's main function is unknown. He is believed to be a Harvester, and like many other Kachinas bringing rain is also one of his main functions. He is now rarely seen in ceremonies. Eric Nastacio is a talented young carver, and his dolls are already considered to be very good carvings. Eric enjoys making kachinas in new styles and also enjoys every part of making each kachina. From carving to coloring. Eric takes his time in carving each kachina, and he still follows its traditional appearance. He has a great future in carving kachinas and it is amazing to know that he was self- taught. Eric was born on August 5th, 1975 in Phoenix, Arizona. He belongs to the Snake and Sand Clans.
