Rare Hornby 'O' Gauge Gunpowder Van. The van is complete with drop link couplings and two hinged doors with handles, one of which is a replacement. Paintwork is chipped and dulled in places and some of the LNWR lettering on one side has been over-painted at some time. The original nickel plated wheels are a little corroded but sound, as are the axles. When new batches of this van were made late in 1922, the open axleguard nut- and- bolt base was fitted as in this example. I have never before come across an example with a load of gunpowder sacks but they appear contemporary and to scale and may well have been available as a Hornby accessory. Unfortunately the original buff card box has not survived but vans as complete and original as this example are very scarce. Payment in £GBP by PayPal please.
