Fred d’Esopo Collection Measures: 2 cm x 1.2 cm x .6 cm Shipping Weight: 3 ounces This is an eye catching tiny specimen of a rare uranium mineral. The vivid Yellow BOLTWOODITE formed as a compact radiating spray on one side. This is an excellent display of these acicular (needle-like) crystals~! Some crystals are terminated~! Boltwoodite is a rare hydrated potassium uranium silicate. As you can see in our photos, the Yellow Boltwoodite is highly visible on this piece~! 3 of these photos were taken through our microscope~! These intriguing opaque Yellow crystals formed on CALCITE, which definitely emphasizes their beauty. Specimens of Boltwoodite are hard to come by. Any (and every) specimen of this rare uranium species is a welcome sight~! This specimen is from a very old find at this classic locale. (Note: One of the ways to tell if you have an older specimen from Namibia is if the original label has the country listed as South West Africa (SWA), which is the former name for Namibia .)
