Up for sale is this ten dollar casino silver strike made for the Hotel San Remo Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The mint mark on this coin is an "G" which means it was made by the Global Minting. The center is made from .999 fine silver and has a weight of approximately 6/10 troy ounce. The outer ring is brass. This has a great picture of the hotel on the reverse side. This type of coin has been rewarded to slot machine players for years as a winning award on special "Silver Strike" machines. They have become very collectible as just a coin, in fact, there are special clubs you can join to learn more about these and buy, sell, and trade. It seems what most buyers are interested in now is the pure silver value of them. As far as I know, these silver coins are no longer made. The new ones are made with a "clad" coin. Be sure you are buying a coin that has ".999 Fine Silver" etched into it either on the center coin or the outside ring. There are no figures on the mintage quantity that I could find. These are strictly a supply and demand item. With all the new collectors coming in because of the silver value, who knows where the true collectible value will go?
