This is a hard to find perfume bottle with Thorens music box in base which plays Bells of St. Mary's. According to Jacquelyne Jones North in "Perfume, Cologne & Scent Bottles" (1986 Edition), these bottles were sold from the thirties to the early fifties. It's a little hard to wind, but still works. The music box does not stop when the bottle is placed on a flat surface as originally, but could probably be fixed by extending the little stem that controls that somehow. The gold lid is a little worn from age and does not have a piece that goes down into the bottle, but the place to attach is t Some staining on the bulb. Metal bottle holder and base in excellent condition!! The intricate pattern is quite pretty, with nice patina to the gold. Measures 5 1/2" tall and 2 3/4" wide. 3 dainty feet.
