Here's a nice and big 7 1/2" grooved axe from Lancaster county - Susquehanna River. Appears to be argillite or river patinated siltstone. Ex. Sonny Delong collection of York pa. He hunted the river for decades. An absolute island find with the patina to prove it. When these rocks have been laying in the river sediment for years they because "River stained". Permanent coloration due to the river. Both sides show original stone color and then towards the bit there is River stain. Pretty cool! Awesome and Classic axe! Completely pecked axe. Not just a stone with a groove in it. Guaranteed authentic. Check out my other listings.
