Measuring 16 1/2" by 17 1/2" and 4 3/4" tall, this dough bowl is enormous and in excellent condition for it's age. Made of a very hard wood with a beautiful natural light honey colored patina. It has a wide 1 1/2 inch rim and faint turnings on the inside and outside. I originally thought this bowl was made of maple because of the birdseye-like pattern in the wood, but I believe it is oak. Definitely antique, I would estimate it to be from early 1900âe(tm)s possibly earlier. The oblong or oval shape attests to its age. Well used, it has chop marks in the bottom and on the rim, but has no cracks, holes or damage other than the normal signs of wear. Notice the nicely rounded rim only attained after many years of use. It has a lovely pattern to the wood with burl-like circles on the outer surface. The warm patina of this gigantic primitive wooden bowl speaks volumes of its former life as a staple in the farmhouse kitchen and the many meals lovingly prepared with it. It would be the perfect centerpiece for any table or fireplace hearth. I have included several pictures of the bowl with other antique items to show how it can be displayed as part of a collection of antique items ( It is the one with the dollar bill). Plenty of pictures for your viewing, but if you would like any additional I will be happy to send them or answer any of your read more
