This exceptionally well done Imari charger is handpainted with a beautiful large scroll open to a traditional Japanese landscape.The remainder of charger has colors of iron rust with gold scrolling and Imperial chysansthemums.The charger is unsigned and of the early Meiji period. Condition is excellent, some wear to the bottom rim commensurate for its age and has three holes in back rim for hanging.Measures a large 12 1/2" across.Age is of the early Meiji period Ca 1868-1890.The meiji period was the height of Japanese culture, art and nationalism.
