A huge HALF GALLON size (about 9" tall) Ball mason fruit jar in an extremely DEEP PURPLE / sun colored AMETHYST color with gorgeous wavy whittled glass. This is not a reproduction, it is about 100 years old. Jar Embossed : " Ball / SPECIAL ". Condition : Jar is in SPARKLING clean, PRISTINE condition, beautiful! The only thing I could find on this jar was a small light mark on the backside near the base. Gorgeous thick heavy wavy glass. Age : An early ABM smooth lip jar, ca. 1910. This is an original LARGE SIZED WIDE MOUTH antique fruit jar. The glass is completely incredible with beautiful whittle marks and air bubbles. Jar comes with large zinc cap w/ milk glass liner; top of cap is embossed Ball . When found, this jar had a nice sun colored purple hue to it. To enhance this color it was exposed to an intense light or heat source that hastened this process and turned it a deeper purple color.
