This antique stoneware, 5 gallon crock was made near the Shenandoah Valley in the late nineteenth century and is stamped "Geo. W. Miller/Strasburg VA." Decoration is cobalt on gray glaze. It is almost 16" tall, about 10 1/2" in diameter and very heavy. Condition is very good with no cracks, but there are three lip chips, largest is about 1", on the outer rim, most probably done in the firing kiln. Glazing does have some burn marks from the kiln (see pictures), but the main side looks great! This is an antique piece and I try to point out any damage or flaws. Remember, please email me with any questions prior to bidding. This is a great antique piece of Virginia pottery! Reference: Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, by H.E. Comstock ( See picture page 441 for a similar crock by Miller) No international shipping on this item. The shipping cost noted by eBay may NOT be accurate. PLEASE WAIT for the INVOICE FROM ME AFTER THE AUCTION's END. Because of the crock's large size and its fair market value, handling /packaging/shipping/insurance will be professionally done; this additional cost will be determined by your location. When I checked with the packer, cost may be between $45 and $75 if you live in the mid Atlantic region. A location further away may be higher. Please take this into account when bidding!
