VINTAGE 1985 - "CHRISTIAAN HUYGENS" - PLANISPHAERIUM - MOON PHASE - TRIPLE CHIME - ELM BURLWOOD - BRACKET - TABLE SHELF CLOCK - FRESH FROM A LOCAL ESTATE - This clock was made to commemorate the 17th Century Dutch scientist/inventor Christiaan Huygens, inventor of the clock pendulum as a suitable method of regulating a timepiece This auction is for a rare and hard to find HUGE (21" high x 12" wide x 8" deep and weighs 21#) planisphaerium, moon phase, triple chime, bracket table shelf clock by Alma Klokken of Holland - The gorgeous wooden case is elm burlwood veneered hardwood - It has it's original sticker on the bottom of the case which reads: "MADE IN HOLLAND" - Inside the back door is a Christiaan Huygens commemorative brass plate - The case is fitted with an extremely complicated key wind, triple chime, time and planisphaerium, moon phase, balance wheel, 8 day, German movement - The triple chime strikes (8) hammers on (8) rods - You can select from (3) different chimes which are: Westminster, Whittington & St. Michaels - It chimes on the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and at the top of the hour - It can also be silent - It is fitted with a gorgeous engraved, hand painted, complicated astrological dial - Engraved in the dial it reads: "CHRISTIAAN HUYGENS" - The dial consists of: date and day calendar, time and choice of 17 different cities or read more
