*As of Saturday Aug. 16, all the bags from bucket #1 are gone and t were only 2 bags left from bucket #2. From the feedback I've gotten so far, buckets 1 and 2 contained lots of fine gold, course gold and a few pickers. I thought I'd let everyone know that I just started to bag up this 3rd bucket and I'm seeing lots of nice little nuggets. I mean LOTS. If you haven't tried some of this paydirt, put in a bid on this one. I think it's the best I've ever come across. As some of you know, I have been traveling the west for the last several years prospecting. I go by the name of Dakota Slim on the gold prospecting forums and I've sold a lot of paydirt from Arizona on ebay. I also sold some really nice nuggets from AZ as well as some gold and silver ore from Nevada. Some of you will remember my dog Nugget. Most of the people who buy our paydirt do so to pan out the gold but we also sell a lot of paydirt to people who want to test out their equipment whether it's a dredge, sluice, highbanker, rocker, drywasher, Blue Bowl, mini sluice or a panning wheel like the Desert Fox or Miner's Wheel. It doesn't matter how you plan to get the gold out, people buy from us because they know they are getting the real thing. It's a hobby for me and I Iike being able to provide people with an experience they couldn't get otherwise. Nugget and I have given up many of the comforts that most people enjoy but we really love what we are doing. Last year I met an old prospector in Nevada. His elderly wife used to be an assayer. We got to talking about placer gold and they told me that t was more gold in a particular place in Idaho than anyw they had ever seen and that included Nevada, Montana, California and Alaska. They showed me this photo and helped me create a map to this ancient riverbed that lies in a gulch high atop a mountain in Idaho. The rivers and creeks below yielded thousands of ounces of gold but few people worked some of the upper placer areas because it was hard to get to and t was little water. When it rained, the water would rush down the mountain and leave the barren hillsides dry. That was my best chance to find gold they said. Well, I took the summer off from prospecting to fish in Washington State but I kept thinking about the place the old timers told me about. It wasn't that far so I drove over t in July and s ure enough, I found the spot they told me about. It was high on the mountain and t was no sign of water to pan with but I could see the ancient riverbed they told me about and the route that the rain and snow runoff took through it. That is when I got out my shovel and buckets. I filled three 5-gallon buckets with dirt I shoveled off the bedrock in 3 different parts of this gulch. I used a 1/4 inch screen to filter out the cobbles and checked what I screened for signs of gold. I didn't find any large nuggets but I saw plenty of signs of gold. Gold is extremely resistant to weathering and, when freed from enclosing rocks, is carried downstream as metallic particles consisting of "dust," flakes, grains, or nuggets. Gold particles in stream deposits are often concentrated on or near bedrock, because they move downward during high-water periods when the entire bed load of sand, gravel, and boulders is agitated and is moving downstream. Fine gold particles collect in depressions or in pockets in sand and gravel bars w the stream current slackens. Concentrations of gold in sand and gravel are called "pay streaks." Gold usually occurs at or near the borders of rock formations. As you can see from the following geological map of Idaho, t are an almost infinite number of these borders and gold has been found in varying degrees at many of them.
