This auction is for a very old book from 1804 written by Master William Preston titled Illustrations Of Masonry. This is a rare First American Improved Edition from Strahan's tenth London Edition . This book was edited by Brother George Richards and was printed by W.&D.Treadwell , Portsmouth in 1804 . As you can see from the pics the cover is in need of restoration. The front cover is t but not attached. The back cover is also loose and taped on to the spine, and t is tape on front cover as well . The binding is good and tight and still firmly attached to the spine . The book has 400 pages, all intact but has some discoloration from ink used at that time or just from 200 years of age. T are a few small folds at corners and a few small tears along outer edge or bottom. Does not affect any reading. William Preston was a master of one of the lodges. He lists complete lodges and individuals of the 13 states of the period. Book tells all you would want to know about Masonry in that time and quite a bit of interesting history ..
