Alix and Alexey Offered in this auction is a recreated, cabinet style card showing portrait of little Grand Duke Alexei Nikolajevich Romanov of Russia (Grandson of Russian Tsar Alexander III ), only son of Czar Nicholas II - with his mother, Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna. Rare and poignant photograph , as it shows dispirited Alix, her strength gone, carrying her son - her little bundle of joy.As in this photo - he was also her burden. The burden which weighed down her mind, and, according to some, brought down the Romanov dynasty.Picture from modern publication is mounted on an old, cabinet style card .Nice quality, charming old world appeal.Card is in good condition , shows minor wear, and measures approx. 5" x 6.5".
