DESCRIPTION:- A circa 1736 Meissen fugure of a female satyr. This is probably one of the rarest Meissen figures ever to be offered for auction on Ebay. I bought this figure from Christies in 2002/3 and they stated in their listing that this figure was one of the rarest they had auctioned! It and its male partner are shown in Yvonne Adams's book Meissen figures under the mythological section. Just look at the face - definitely 18th century. So real so full of character and the pose is wonderful - as if about to move. The modelling is absolutely super - so full of life. It sits on a rare Meissen square base with very faint under glazed blue crossed swords mark. Let's make no mistake, this figure is very rare, special and is a museum piece even in its present condition. I doubt if another Meissen figurine this rare will be offered for auction again. CONDITION:- As previously stated. DIMENSIONS:- Height 152mm;
