SHERATON PERIOD CROTCHED MAHOGANY GENTLEMEN'S CHEST WITH RARE CHEVEL MIRROR-MADE IN PORTLAND MAINE AUGUST 10, 1823 With the highest compliments we could pay a period piece we are delighted to offer you the very finest Sheraton period dresser we have ever had the pleasure of handling in our entire careers. Immeadiately after purchasing this piece we sent it to our woodworker where it received a complete restoration attending to every little ding or chip it accumulated over the past 200 years. It is now in amazing condition. This is a signed and dated piece. The maker's last name is extremely difficult to make out (we have photographed the pencil signed signature for your review) but where it was made and its date are clearly legible. Several details make this the most unique Sheraton chest we have ever seen. It has a canted post chevel mirror with original beveled glass and mounting threaded bolts, scrolled back gallery, tombstone recessed accents on each right and left side of the upper triple drawered glovebox chest, rich powerful crotched and figured mahogany, the absolute finest brass hardware and solid brass decorative figural mountings ever seen on a piece of Sheraton furniture and robust figural mahogany columns with another set of tombstone carved accents with brass mountings in their centers.
