" Up for Auction from a lady who had migrated to Florida from Canada in the early 1960s is this gorgeous, Impressionist landscape painting by Lionel LeMoine Fitzgerald (1890-1956) . Fitzgerald belonged to a group of Canadian Impressionists similar to our Florida Highwaymen called THE GROUP OF SEVEN which later became known as the CANADIAN GROUP OF PAINTERS. He is known for his wide range of painting styles and this piece is typical of one of his small landscapes. measures 8-3/4" x 10- 3/4"(with frame) and is painted on board . I had another landscape of his which I sold several months ago (same size and frame) and I just found this one in a box from that estate. The signature on this painting is written as "F.ALD", an abbreviated form of his name. I included a photo of the other painting's signature so you can compare.
