Here on offer is an impressive vintage Chinese silver plated Serving Turin. This wonderful serving piece consists of three pieces. The base is a large deep bowl that sits securely on a stepped foot that has a cloud design in shallow relief. Around the rim of the bowl there is a classic Greek key design. The bowl has two handles made in the form of dragon heads. The dragons are wonderfully moulded, they have tongues that can move. There is a heavy flat ring that sits on the rim of the bowl, this also has the Greek key design. The deep lid fits into the separate ring, the dome is stepped. The crown of the lid has a dragon and phoenix racing through clouds, chasing the celestial pearl. The Chinese consider the dragon and phoenix to be symbolic of blissful relations between husband and wife. The lid is crowned with a wonderfully generous ribbed knob. I believe there may once have been a liner that sat inside, it may possibly have been a food warmer. There are no maker’s marks or country of origin. There is one small area where the plate is damaged, but otherwise is in good condition. This gorgeous bowl is offered in good used vintage condition, it measures about 34.5cm at the widest point by 25.5cm and weighs 3509g. A good addition for a vintage or retro themed home.
